Pittsfield Budget Committee OKs $6.37 million spending plan

NH PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield budget panel advances $6.37M spending plan with estimated 19 percent tax increase. The Budget Committee unanimously approved the combined town and sewer operating budget of $6.37 million and recommended $2.66 million in wastewater sludge-removal bonds, along with capital reserves for emergency equipment, public safety vehicles, and public works machinery. The proposed town operating budget of $5.62 million and school budget of $12.2 million both fall below their respective default budgets.

The town operating budget represents a $700,000 increase from the prior year, adding approximately $261 in annual taxes to a $350,000 home if all warrant articles pass. Voting takes place March 10 at Pittsfield Middle-High School. ===END BRIEF===
